BetterPrice vs InvisibleHand
InvisibleHand was one of the original Chrome price comparison extensions. Launched in the early 2010s, it pioneered the real-time-savings-notification idea years before Honey existed. The problem: it has barely been updated since. The web moved on, Shopify ate retail, and InvisibleHand stayed where it was. Coverage degraded. Matching accuracy fell behind.
The freshness gap
Modern online retail is dominated by Shopify, WooCommerce, and other modern platforms that did not exist in their current form when InvisibleHand was actively developed. Product schema standards evolved. Matching logic got more sophisticated. InvisibleHand was not rebuilt for any of that.
BetterPrice was. It uses current product schema (JSON-LD, Open Graph), modern matching strategies (brand + model + specifications), and runs natively on Shopify and the rest of the modern stack.
The honest answer
InvisibleHand had a great run. The idea was right. The execution has not kept up. BetterPrice is what you would build today if you wanted to do that job properly.
